I have one client that currently has 4 Xpe boxes servicing approx. 100+ users per machine (not by my recommendation). As I explained to them, if one of the servers goes down, the redistribution of the users over the remaining 3 servers potentially could cause a degradation in overall performance.=20 My question is what do you guys and gals who have 100+ users per server do if one goes out? Do you maintain enough servers to handle the extra load in emergency situations?=20 I usually recommend that clients keep the user load to 35-45 users per server max. and purchase more hardware if more users are connecting. =20 Philip Walley=20 Sr. Network Engineer=20 Consultrix Technologies=20 Memphis, TN. =20 Consultrix Help Desk: (601) 956-8909 Memphis Office: (901) 383-1300=20 Memphis Fax: (901) 383-1375 =20 -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ron Oglesby Posted At: Monday, March 15, 2004 3:14 PM Posted To: The thin mailing list Conversation: [THIN] How many users are you getting? Subject: [THIN] How many users are you getting? In an earlier e-mail on this list Sjolund, Dag was seen to say: "we routinely have 250+ concurrent sessions per server" Saweeeet. Is what I say to that. The largest number of concurrent connections I could ever get or have worked on was about 120 at one client with 110 per server (taking second place) at another.=20 Both of these were running Term EM applications on older quad xeons.(read 500mhz and a little up no 3.0 ghz stuff) So the question that came to my mind is: How many users are YOU getting per box? And on the big ones (100+ users) what types of apps are you running?
