If it's just CPU usage you want to clamp, try using ThreadMaster from here: http://threadmaster.tripod.com/ It's freeware, and it works well. Although AppSense is a far superior product, you don't always need to go down the "commercial product" path. It's expensive and often difficult to justify to management. Cheers, Jeremy. Had a farm of 10 servers running Great Plains. When the users would do a query and be presented the results (like a list of names, I think it was), the CPU would peg at 100% until they selected a user from the list or closed the query results dialog. Great Plains had no interest in fixing it, so the customer had to spend $15,000 to put AppSense Performance Manager on all of his servers. Thanks, Great Plains. AppSense did alleviate the symptoms, as advertised. > -----Original Message----- > From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ron Jameson > Sent: Tuesday, 13 July 2004 1:40 p.m. > To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [THIN] Re: 2003 TS Perf Problem - best way to 100% find it > > We tested RTScale about a month ago and it showed no > improvements - actually when it did one of the later > optimizations - it slowed the whole beast to a crawl where we > had to do an emergency logout all users and pull RT off. > That was scary. > > I disabled HT about an hour ago, updated the BIOS and removed > the /3g switch.
