Dear Texbirders,
The Blucher Park bird walks continued this morning. We had 17 visitors, mostly
from nearby locations (only four out-of-staters).
The birds were mostly the same as yesterday, except very few swallows. Except
for the local Purple Martins, only one Rough-winged, in fact. We had 45
species total.
We had ten species of warblers again, mostly the same as yesterday. (There is
a complete list of migrants at the end of the post.) It appears that the north
winds of the last couple of days have inhibited the birds present from leaving
and new birds from making the flight from the Yucatan.
One highlight was several small groups of migrating Broad-winged and Swainson's
Hawks. We usually don't get many buteos this far east and so close to Corpus
Christi Bay. There was also a very late Hermit Thrush still present.
Thanks to Adrienne Kerr and Judy Kestner for hosting.
