The belt thing works perfect. Absolutely will not change the speed. The idler transfers motion at a 1 to 1 ratio to the platter. The idler could be twice the size and the speed would be the same .Think about it, if the pulley was 1 inch in circumference and it made one turn it would move one inch of the idlers outer circumference and that one inch is transferred directly to the platter no matter what size the idler is. The only thing that would change is the speed at which the idler turns. If the idler was 1 inch then it would turn once for every turn of the pulley if the idler was 2 inches in circumference it would make half of a turn for every turn of the pulley but it would still transfer the same 1 inch to the platter. Believe me, I have won money on this one with new tech's who have worked for me over the years. And I think the belt thing is a lot easier, faster and less expensive than getting a new one. Mike W.
