Not to be flippant....but if the timer continues to run when door is
opened you are either looking a bad Micro switch or a Relay on the ESR
board that is welded shut. And even at that most micro's are programmed
just for that possibility.

        One other possibility...bad microprocessor, (doubtful and rare),
and if that's the case, put the screws back and mark it NWR.

Thanx for the replies but-
If the diode were bad, I would not get Microwave energy when powering
the 
transformer with 110v as evidenced by test light (fluorescent tube)
glowing.
Plus with the timer continuing to run when the door is opened -
something 
else is going on.

The microswitches have molded connectors and only go on one way. The 
symptoms remained the same unfortunately.
