My personal two cents on Rainmaker is that I'm not convinced this is a good
deal for any business owner. I was kind of excited to see Copyblogger
doing Rainmaker... until I saw that all it was ended up being a Genesis
site, with a couple of tools thrown in, for a recurring subscription fee.

That's smart for * them*, but that's not necessarily cheap for their users.

I don't remember exactly what their deal is - whether they provide hosting
or not, but I think they do, which means that part of the cost of Rainmaker
goes to hosting fees. ($30). The rest is just a fork-it-over-and-pay
subscription, and as Sven pointed out, there are limitations as well.

So the question is: what value do you get out of using Rainmaker? Does it
have some cool tool you can't do without? Does it have a specific feature
that makes life super-easy for you? Does it have something that a regular
Genesis site doesn't have? Does it increase your ability to earn revenue?
What KIND of tools does it give you that help you expand and monetize?

For sure, the monthly cost of Rainmaker is a business write-off. BUT, why
not buy hosting with WPEngine or WebSynthesis at $30 a month, then buy a
StudioPress theme ($100, one-shot deal) and use that? To me, it seems a
better route than Rainmaker, because you own the platform, and all you're
paying for is hosting, with no restrictions on plugins.

That's just my two cents, though! :)

Cheers,

James Chartrand
