If the waveforms are saved as actual data, then you can operate on the data
fairly simply by opening it into a spreadsheet and using Excel to graph or
do arithmetic.

If the data is saved as an image, however, you will have to be pretty smart
to operate on the .jpgs or bitmaps. I would use a SW package like maybe
LabVIEW with pre-canned image processing algorithms to operate on the
waveform images. This may be very difficult if you are not an experienced
programmer with whatever enviornment you choose. It can be done, but could
be challenging.

Alternatively, you could try to take the measurements visually by doing a
sort of 'pixel math'. By this I mean that you could determine the number of
pixels from one hash mark on the scope display to the next. Then, using the
number of V/div, you could determine V/pixel. Then you simply measure the
number of pixels for the quantity that you wish to measure. A similar
approach could be used for the time dimension. This may be the most
straightforward method, particularly if you are only looking at a handful of
images.

Hope this helps,

Subject: [SI-LIST] Waveform Measurements

Hi All,

Does anybody know if there is any way to make measurements on waveforms
saved as images in the lab.
Thanks,
Olivia
