I've read this thread and was not going to post on this, but now I have to.
Several people, including the two listed below that you are shocked over the
response, have given good sound knowledgeable advice. In return, you reply
with a certain level of judgement and arrogance. To truly understand the breed
takes years, and years, and more years. There are very few "students of the
breed" now a-days. Everyone wants instant gratification, and if they don't get
it, they just start condemming instead of learning. So before passing
judgement on why an advanced performance titled dog not have a Championship,
ask the breeder why they chose not to persue that. Knowing the dogs, and their
breeding program, there is a darn good reason, can be as simple as the dog
hating the conformation ring. Passing judgment on not doing advanced titles
and just attaining an RN or lower level titles also comes accross as arrogant
and smug. There are only so many hours in the day, some of us choose to train
24/7, others choose to have
other things in their lives besides "just another title".
I hope you take the time to get to know some of the people in this breed who
have bred good quality dogs. I learned by listening, going to shows, and
studying pedigrees, and having a couple of great mentors. I had been around
German Shepherd Dogs for years in Germany, when I came over to the States, I
fell in love with the American Show GSD, and went to a lot of shows before ever
getting my first "show dog". That dog did not finish, but consecutive ones
did, and I still learn new things all the time.
Try to put preconceived ideas aside while learning, and then, after your
own success, help someone else.
