after dashing back to return the book to Chump, Ester leads the way at a
decent clip. not far behind are Cynfred and Chump, with Splut and Arfa left
behind babysitting the skeleton legion.

back in the passage, the scraping sound has faded and is now all but
inaudible. you verify that the crabster or bone rooms are as you left them,
but there is no way of knowing for sure whether the thing making the sound
turned right into the scorpion man room and went up the tunnel to the chaos
garden, or went straight on up the other tunnel.

Arfa's calls for a skeleton bashing session, floating up the tunnel, go
unheeded for the moment.
