Ester grabs the book and tears off back up the hallway, then stops
abruptly, dashes to Chump to drop off the book, then, with nary a second to
lose, resumes her original trajectory. Cynfred, somewhat confused, tears
off after her. Chump enjoys the return of the book briefly, before tearing
off after Cynfred.

Splut regards the skelearmy suspiciously, pretending to be all out of gum.
Arfa regards both groups carefully, trying to decide which one offers the
greater chance of killing (or re-killing) something in the very short term.

despite the party's amazing speed in dealing with the scraping noise, it
appears to have vanishèd back up the passage and past the cave in which the
party arrived on this level, without leaving any trace.
