Fellow Rollei users/owners...

Sorry to interfere here, but...I have a comment or two and a question, if you don't mind.

I've always wanted a good Rollei, and now I have one!

I saw this Rollei Magic on eBay, and bought it!

Now that I've got it in my hands, I need to pass on my observations, and solicit your comments in response...

Comment: You should have asked us here before bidding.

Undoubtedly so. Mea Culpa. I felt it odd to ask a Rollei list about a Rollei that was listed at auction somewhere. Loathe to reveal what I'd found. Time was of the essence, and I did what I never do ~ made a snap decision and bought without thinking it thru completely... In this case, it seems I sorely missed the boat. Made a poor decision. Goofed up. Even erred!

I paid $ 40 for my Rolleimagic, and it sounds like it is in much better shape than what you got.

The viewfinder is *all* of the problem. The entire rest of the camera is literally in near new condition. McKeown Grade 2F. Meter works, etc. If the viewfinder had not been replaced, it would all look new, it's in that kind of shape.

I only wanted it for collector's value, since it is incapable of taking good photos due to the poor design of the meter. With no manual speeds at all, you're screwed when the meter dies, as they always do.

No arguing that aspect of it. No way around "always do."

Get your money back.

Of course, providing the seller honors the words he used in his eBay ad, I plan to do just that.

If you've got that kind of money to throw away,

No, it wasn't "throw away" money, it was money I'd eventually amassed to buy a good Rollei. I was ignorant of the low esteem in which the Magic was held by everybody.

I'll sell you my Rolleiflex T for a whole lot less and you'll have a real camera.

Bob

I think I'd rather have a 2.8F, but I suspect that might be out of my league, cost-wise. What kind of shape is your T in?

Thanks for the words, and I'll keep your offer in mind.
