Could it be a combination of several things?F.x. the circle is perhaps the chrome lens surround and the lines are a roller that is reflected back from one of the elements (thus making a mirror image of itself, i.e. a cross)?
Just thinking out loud. Thor On 18 Apr, 2008, at 18:34, eroustom@xxxxxxxxxxx wrote:
You know what I never thought to look for it, but it's so bright into the viewing lens that I'm lucky to do more than squint. I wonder if it has something to do with the chrome around the lens...Another unsolved Rollei mystery. It looks like it's at an opposite angle from the sun, i.e. mirroredimage. Would that make the problem optical (i.e. thus not an internal reflection from film transport roller or similar), i.e. something in the lens, shutter or aperture? I wonder what inside the camera couldmake the circle and cross appear on the film. The other shot you posted had the effect in a different area, right? Maybe you got to close to the Pope while out shooting? ;-) Thor On 18 Apr, 2008, at 14:34, ERoustom wrote:Here's the image in question: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ elroustom/2422405163/ with the more pronounced cross shape.
