I no longer use Adobe Reader because of the constant security issues.
Instead I use PDF to TXT from
http://empowermentzone.com/pdf2txt.htm
You can download the current version at the below link
http://empowermentzone.com/p2tsetup.exe
This might make things a bit easier for you.
