Oh yeah. I forgot such a thing already exists.

One time I saw a Sally Mann slide show where she claimed to have used her 8x10 handheld. I guess you would need a pretty fast shutter speed.

Really she just put it on the floor I think.

I suppose one could afix some sort of viewfinder to an 8x10 for hand holding and carry it on one's shoulder but I wonder how you would check focus. There are shoulder mounted motion picture cameras which are several times as heavy as a large view camera. There were 5x7 sheet film cameras intended to be hand held. Graflex made a 5x7 Speed Graphic for about two decades and, of course, several models of the Graflex SLR in this size. Linhof also made a 5x7 Technica.
