Anyone know what glue they used at the factory to keep this in place
Usually a variation of Pliobond or contact cement. It forms a removable bond if you apply to one surface and put the parts together while the glue is wet. The problem with pliobond is it gets tough/brittle with age. Rubber cement works also, for a stronger bond use like contact cement: apply to both surfaces, let dry to slightly tacky, and then press the surfaces together. Not as strong as pliobond but it doesn't get brittle. As snoopy mentioned, RTV is also a good choice. RTV doesn'tstick well to un-anodized aluminum but shouldn't have any trouble with lens barrels.
Sand all surfaces lightly with fine sandpaper, clean them off with lighter fluid, then glue. Nicholas O.
