For removable applications don't follow the instructions on the
bottle - they are for permanent gluing.

Apply a thin film of the adhesive to _one side only_ and let dry
to tacky.  Then assemble the parts.

If you put adhesive on both parts it will stick like the bejesus the first time the parts come in contact.

Wetting the adhesive slightly with 91% isopropyl alcohol lets
the parts slide over each other for alignment.

For a rubber lens grip tube you may want to only have adhesive in a
few dabs around the end of the tube at both ends.
