It's amusing to note that some technical comments about a certain technique was switched to a rudeness issue. The technique I commented on was presented with highly assertive tone and "scientific" reasonings which were questioned by me and a few others. All of sudden, people who promoted that technique abandoned discussing the validity of the claims and reasonings presented, now the technique is only good for work prints, and there is no science. It is irrelevant how one arrives at the result as long as the result is good. Now some are attacking me because I'm rude, by misquoting my technical criticism as personal attacks. It is a selfish defensive mechanism to divert attention from vulnerability of making unjustifiably overemphasized statements. I don't care where there is technique or science or whatever as long as no non-science is presented as scientific fact, etc. I don't care how little people value or appreciate science. However, misrepresenting science is an insult to those who spent a lot of effort to expand the knowledge of human beings, from which everyone living in this world receives benefits directly or indirectly. Photography is a very good example of applied science and manufacturing where end users have been freed from technicality and enjoyed convenience since around the turn of the previous century. Nonetheless it is hugely depending on the effort of those pioneers and those who advanced the science part. If you have to use the word "attack" to understand my behavior, I persistently question those stong emphases and suspicious uses of "science" and this is it. -- Ryuji Suzuki "Keep a good head and always carry a light camera." ============================================================================================================= To unsubscribe from this list, go to www.freelists.org and logon to your account (the same e-mail address and password you set-up when you subscribed,) and unsubscribe from there.
