I was interested to read Terry's post (below) re. quality of
PTR2 recordings.

From what he says the mic pre-amps may have been upgraded, as
well as now being stereo. I wondered out of curiosity what
mic you are using Terry. I ask because it would be nice to
think the business/project I'm working with, due to expand a
little, could equip itself with a recorder of 'broadcast
quality' - as Terry puts it,which is also VI operable in a
real sense.

By the way, this message could be regarded as a 'test'
message, but as I don't like test messages, i@'m actually
making this a contribution to the list.

Ray.

Terry Clasper's original post:
Hi.
If you use the PTR2 in "Normal" mode, then you can do this,
and indeed I do
all the time.
So for example if it is the first recording on the card/disk
you would see a
folder called
bookdir0
and in there as well as all the smil xml and other stuff yu
would also find
the mp3 files pertaining to the title, which you simply copy
to your hard
disk and edit in your referred sound editor.
I regularly record broadcast quality interviews etc and in
fact the quality
difference between the PTR1 and PTR2 is to say the leest
staggering.
