Re demonstrating Weaponskill in the tavern -
it's not a combat, so there's no issue with the +2CS weaponskill bonus.
I think we can assume that having weaponskill does give a kai lord
"skills of speed and balance" no
matter which weapon he has (just not a +2CS bonus) - there's precedent
for this in The Chasm of Doom,
when you get to use a bow if you have weaponskill.
I can't see how a player wouldn't have a weapon at this stage in the book,
so a footnote
about one is probably overkill, even if strictly correct.

The corresponding section begins with "Taking hold of your weapon, you
demonstrate the Kai skills of balance and speed, as taught to you by
your Kai masters." In this case, it doesn't seem to imply that you
must have your Weaponskill weapon, but you do need a weapon.
Would a footnote saying that you need a weapon but not necessarily you
Weaponskill weapon suffice here?
