I'm using windows here, but can't find visual c++ 2008 express. Well I know
it's listed in the list of programs that are installed, but haven't managed
to find where it is.

Hello,
This depends on what platform you're coding for. Mac you can get xcode,
Linux you can get gcc, Windows has visual studio 2008 express or mingw.
All the compilers listed are free (vs has a professional version, but you
can get express free).

Hellow,

This question has probably been asked a tonne of times before, but I get
tonnes of e-mails here, so thought I'd ask it again.

Does anyone know of any free or fairly cheap c++ compilers? Or is it
possible to write the coding in notepad and run through the command line?

Thanks for any help/advice,

Harmony.
