I wouldn't even want to trade with you and when I got home 3 hours ago the bank said it was 21 degrees. I'm getting real tired of working in these temperatures. -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Gman Sent: Friday, February 20, 2009 9:10 PM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: .net 3.5 update?? Hi Sandy, Taking time out for YOU is never a bad thing. :) The .NET 3.5 update is listed as a High Priority update when you use the Windows Update site, but it's been pushed out to folks through that shield you mentioned for folks who have WU set to not do its thing automatically. There are still issues with it on some folk's systems and the full update/upgrade to 3.0 & 3.5 just isn't necessary for folks who don't have either of those two versions already installed. So, my advice has and continues to be "Deselect it and tell WU to not ask you about it again when asked". If there comes a time where you actually need to install 3.0/3.5, you can then go to the site and re-enable that particular update. I'll also give an 'all clear' if I get word that MS has fixed whatever issues that update has with certain systems. Incidentally, it's going down to 17 tonight and they're talking about at least a half foot of snow. Wanna trade? ;) Peace, Gman http://www.bornagainamerican.org "The only dumb questions are the ones we fail to ask" ----- Original Message ----- From: "WhatzForDinner" <whatzfordinner@xxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, February 20, 2009 8:24 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: .net 3.5 update?? > yeah it was MS, it was IE 7..............which I finally gave into and > installed for the 2nd time and then just kept it after that, lol. it > thought IE 7 was critical I guess even tho I didn't ;-) > i just realized ever since i marked it to just automatically d/l and > install the updates, the shield doesn't show up in my notification area > any more........i've been so busy i didn't even realize. > > i just went thru windows update and chose "custom" and let it look for > updates and it does show something for this .net 3.5. so am i to > understand this is something that i should not install? it doesn't call > it critical, but high priority. i just haven't had time to read many > emails so haven't followed this thread..............actually haven't been > on the pc a whole lot period. i've been taking time away from the pc and > trying to take time to take care of me :-). > > Sandy in Florida.........where we're having another freeze tonight, but > only to around 29 degrees this time. --------------------------------------------------------------- Please remember to trim your replies (including this sentence and everything below it) and adjust the subject line as necessary.
