Edit sysoc.inf. This file can be found in a folder named INF, which is in the C:\WINDOWS\inf folder. You can open that file in notepad. Look for the following line: msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7 On all entries that has hide, remove the word hide, but leave the comma's. Now you can remove the files in add/remove programs. Once you have told Windows to remove Messenger, you can then delete the files from the program files folder also. As I said, just be careful on what you do delete after you can see the programs listed. Trevnal ----- Original Message ----- Does anyone know if there is a way to uninstall msn messenger? I used it for a while when a friend could only use that one - then I changed my e-mail address, and the program got corrupted or something. Now - it shows up in a search - it shows up in program files, but there is no apparent way to open it - it doesn't show up in add/remove programs. Search finds it inside service pack files also....interesting, I thought. There is no uninstall inside c\program files\msn messenger either - I logged off (winXP) and it had to end program - msn messenger - which made me curious - since it doesn't show up as running in my task bar and there isn't a shortcut to even try to open it!
