Hi G,

I called my ISP cable cox, today and talked with the recording lol..but they
did do a reset or send whatever you call it and that kicked me back online
on my laptop, and email and all is working. I have not been back on the
desktop yet to see if that is still working as I only have one cable and no
router yet. I am not sure what happened last night. I was able to be
online on my desktop last night but could not send email. Could not get
online at all on the laptop.

Ok, that's odd. Have you tried another ethernet cable yet?

The cable box doesn't care what's connected to it as long as that device can
recognize and use an ethernet based internet connection. The info you're
getting back from the cable box implies that it may have a router-like
device inside it (connected locally), but it's not recognizing the computer
as internet-abled. If a new cable doesn't help, hopefully someone else will
come up with an idea or three you can try.

Peace,
Gman
