Keep in mind the VALUE of your photos. If you value your photos so much that you just CANNOT lose them, make sure you have the backups REALLY covered. I have thousands of pictures starting at around year 2002. I have all the pictures on one of my internal drives. Then, I have a backup on a pull-out drive (hard drive racks that pull out from the tower). And, then, I have a 3rd copy on CD/DVD. I generally do the backups every couple of weeks. I take a lot of pictures. These are pictures I just cannot lose... birth of my son, birthday parties, important gatherings... you get the idea. Point is... hard drives go bad and CD/DVDs go bad. Make sure you have that covered. ____________________________________ Sir Troth ICQ #1717439 AIM/AOL: SirTrothX Yahoo: SirTroth MSN: SirTroth@xxxxxxxxxxx (do not email me here) My Personal Email: SirTroth@xxxxxxxxx -------------------------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike the mod Sent: Thursday, December 01, 2005 6:15 PM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: backup pictures? Hi Jo-Ann, I rename all the photos I store on my computer. Create folders within the photo program you use. I have at least one folder for each year, and sub folders within it for= Family, Cars, my last holiday<G> etc. CDR disk are quite inexpensive, less than $0.25CDN each. burn your photos to the CD right after down loading for back up purposes. You never know when a hard drive may fail. I fill up the CD by backing up the older folders to bring it up to the 650= to 800 mg that they hold. I have one partition on my computer just for pictures. Occasionally I back them up to CDs. Here's my question. I have like 10 gigs of photos now, taking more all the time. How can I avoid backing up the same pictures over and over, yet not miss any of the new ones?
