If by "physically install" you mean mounting it to the interior of the tower, 
then NO. As long as its connected via the IDE cables, your system will 
recognize it. Plug the IDE cable to it, make sure the jumper setting is 
correct, and make sure the power is connected to the drive. Then, just rest the 
drive safely on something steardy, whether it be a kleenex or anything else 
close enough for the cable to reach.
