If by "physically install" you mean mounting it to the interior of the tower, then NO. As long as its connected via the IDE cables, your system will recognize it. Plug the IDE cable to it, make sure the jumper setting is correct, and make sure the power is connected to the drive. Then, just rest the drive safely on something steardy, whether it be a kleenex or anything else close enough for the cable to reach. ---Troth ----- Original Message ----- From: HandsomeBlck@xxxxxxx To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, September 13, 2003 2:52 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Transfering data from old computer to new In a message dated 9/12/2003 7:24:20 AM Pacific Daylight Time, stormy1@xxxxxxx writes: > You don't need any fancy hardware -- I > usually grab a kleenex box and rest the old hard drive on that while I'm > transferring stuff -- as long as the cable reaches you're set. Lacey, Does this mean I don't actually have to physically install the HDD?
