    You might want to take a look at a utility called "True Launch Bar".  I
bought this a couple of months ago and it's proven to be an awesome
replacement for Quick Launch.  No numbering needed and you can group related
shortcuts within their own folders (accessable thru drop-down menus).  The
more I use it, the more features I'm discovering.     :O)
