Go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services.  Scroll down to 
'Messenger', click to open. Select Disable.  (This is a new way Spammers 
are using) This Messenger is not the same as Windows Messenger.  Unless you 
are on a networked Domain, you do not need this service.
