oh man... I feel your pain Andy! try rebooting with the boot disk, fdisk again, then display all partitions. it sounds as if you have two or more partitions on the drive. delete all the partitions, then set one logical partition and if all goes well, format the entire drive. if all goes well, you still won't see the entire 82GB as the drive volume, some space will be taken by the format process, but not much. my 20GB was reduced to 19.2 or something like that. hth ~s ----- Original Message ----- From: "andy" > > Lets start afresh with this problem..Here's what I've done/tried so far > > IBM 82.3gb hard drive > > Installed as master hard drive and only hard drive (Other h/d unplugged) > > Booted into BIOS, re-set the master and it identified it correctly as > 82.3gb-also changed the slave to 'not installed' > > Restarted with boot disc > > Got to the a> prompt-typed in fdisk > > went to set a primary partition > > the integrity check went ok > > total disk space shows as 12993 mb!!!! > > Anyone ANY ideas what is going on?
