Hi Ed, No! the Modem is a Motorola, HP made my Computer. There is supposed to be a setting somewhere that tells the computer not to shut down when the modem is active regardless of the command to shut down. Whether that is the problem or not I do not know. What is happening is that the Computer starts to shut down but instead of going down completely it comes back up again just as though I clicked on the RESTART instead of the SHUTDOWN.
