Guess there are some parts of the country not being affected by winter storms.
Given what you're experiencing in New York, and given the situation around
Washington, D.C., what we've got going on in Northern California, showers on and
off again, is nothing, and gardeners will be glad to plant when the spring time
comes. My brother already has little tomato seedlings in planter boxes, and
he's going to a friend's house. Apparently, this friend has a greenhouse with a
covered roof on it, so it just might allow the tomatoes to grow into healthy
plants without being overwhelmed by the wind and rain we're likely to be getting
until spring time. Oh, finally thought of that word--reservoirs. Man, when my
mind can't think of words, I just wonder what's beginning to happen to me. It
happens to my mom all the time, but she's 86, and I'm 64, and don't think it
should be happening to me yet.

Rosie I'm glad you're not having anymore problems with Safeway. I remember when
you were having tons of problems with access for them. Because you want to just
order stuff when you had trouble doing it. What a pain in the neck. Linda I'm
sorry your brother has Parkinson's disease. That's kind of a bummer. Well let's
put it this way. All the subways it run aboveground are stopped. All the bus
services stopped. All the trains to go north of the city will be stopped to. The
trains going out to Long Island will be stopped also and I don't want anybody
with their personal cars driving on the streets of the roads either. And if
they're caught doing it they're going to get fined. I don't think a travel ban
will be lifted until tomorrow. And then they're saying maybe by Tuesday were
going to get rain. Just what we really don't need to. But that's just how that
goes. Well I just had two cans of fruit cocktail. It was very good. The only
thing was I should've put it in the refrigerator
and I didn't. Oh well warm fruit that's OK. But it tasted very good. I haven't
had that in a while. The other thing I found out was I had government alerts
turned on on my iPhone. Well I got one but I couldn't figure out how to read it.
And while the tone was going my phone wouldn't talk either. So I thought
something happened to it and so I asked a friend of mine. I was almost tempted
to turn those off but I thought better of it. But anyway this other ham operator
out in Queens wants to give me a couple more radios. So we'll see what happens.
Hopefully I'll be able to use them. He has a couple he doesn't want and he said
he wants and he wants to give them to me I talked to him on the radio until my
hands got tired. This gentleman knows a friend of mine. So maybe he can come
over and help me pack stuff I don't know. But I told him I had to have surgery
and he said he hoped I could avoid it and I said no I don't think so. But anyway
I'm just relaxing today. Just listening to
QVC on TV. So that's basically how that goes. Believe it or not they're having
a gardening social selling plants. Right in the middle of what a snowstorm
they're selling plants that's crazy.

I certainly think you're smart to stay indoors on such a snowy day. I know
Washington, D.C. and Baltimore and surrounding areas got hit yesterday. I
called my brother wholives in Burke, Virginia just outside of Washington,

vehicles between the three of them. Don usually rides a bike to work, eight
miles each way. He is in remarkable shape for a man of 61, except that he

Hi, Kathleen,
I heard about the snow storm you're having and it's awful. I don't blame
you for staying inside. That's a wise thing to do. I agree about getting
the banana bread. It's not worth getting injured just because you have a
craving for something. You can always get it on another day.
As far as getting the surgery, I don't blame you for wanting to get it
done now. The sooner you get it done, the sooner you can get back to
doing normal activities.

with her wealthy bachelor uncle in Beverly Hills. The following September,
the story line continued with the series "Bachelor Father," with John

a child actor for Walt Disney who appeared in "Old Yeller," died in October
at 66. In 1953, she appeared in "Young Bess," a film about Queen Elizabeth

had a starring role in the 1965 movie "The Girls on the Beach" and appeared
in numerous television shows. By the mid-1960s, Ms. Corcoran retired from
acting and, with that, largely withdrew from public life. She worked for
