I do not understand why you, as a dba, need to install software on a server. This is the job of the server administrator.
We build a script that use silent install and checks the results and give this script to the administrators.
They call us only when problems arise.
This method save a lot more time for us as we do not install.
It also saves a lot of time for them, as all they have to do is run the script and then come later and checks if it finished OK.
