I used to use the upside down camera much more than I do these days. I never
had a typewriter lens, but I periodically had to do forms on the typewriter
at work. I'm sure my method wasn't as fast as having a real typewriter lens,
but it worked. By putting the camera in the upside down position, I could
read print pretty close to the typing area. Through trial and error, I
learned how many lines and spaces I needed to adjust a paper to type in the
right place after being able to read an item with the optacon. I don't use a
typewriter much anymore, but figuring out how to use the optacon with forms
was invaluable at the time. And still, there are those occasions when the
feature comes in handy today for other things.
