ATI acquired NxtWave - they did not stop further development. They integrated the NxtWave technology with their other product offerings in this area. As I understand it, the chips that ATI will be shipping this year are a new design with significant performance improvements. How they compare with the 5th Gen LG chips is unknown, at least to me. I may be talking with the folks at ATI soon. After giving some good press to the 5th Gen LG chip in a recent BE column, the PR folks at ATI suggested that we be briefed on what they are doing.
