Certainly. You should avoid using complex symbols unless absolutely
necessary, but the decimal point is one place where this is most
definitely necessary. However, if you had a symbol which gets pronounced
the same way as another symbol (e.g. two bullets which look similar),
you should just define it twice rather than using a complex symbol.
