Jim: Just a couple of quick thoughts... -check your Quicken preferences and see if there's a "delete" or "archive" files-older-than setting of some sort that might be responsible. -check your clock/battery -is anyone else using the computer when you're away... i lose files once in a while and my kids have no idea how it happened and "the Mac must've just hiccoughed or something while they were using it"! -are you on a network? or could you be getting hacked? It's simplicity itself - you plug it into a USB port, the icon shows up on your screen, you drag the icon of the file you want to save onto it, and voila! it's done. It's way easier and less complicated than getting a bazillion CDs, and a lot less expensive in the long run, plus, if you need to back stuff up every day, it's much less hassle.
