Ray,

I agree with Anne that, if you have Publisher, that may be the best way to
go. The reason why people don't like Publisher, I think, is because they are
coming to it from a Word/Word Processor background. Seen from that
perspective, it makes a rather clunky and unwieldy word-processor! Also, of
course, most people who have it use it far less than they do Word, so they
are lower down the learning curve with it than they, perhaps, think they
should be!

It does handle the sort of job you are looking to do much better, on the
whole. It behaves much more like the way that I (and perhaps you) used to
put newsletters together: small bits of copy and illustrations moved around
and stuck down with glue before being photographed and printed! That it does
very well - with the added advantage that a long piece of text can flow
dynamically through many 'boxes' as you arrange and resize them on the page.

I used to do newsletters for various church groups and I found it a great
deal easier to insist that my publications were always a multiple of four
pages. I did have a bit of flexibility, in that I could edit or omit
articles or illustrations if I had too much and there was always material in
reserve if I needed more. We also paid for the production with advertising,
so, if necessary, I could put on my Advertising Sales hat and try to collect
a little revenue!

I hope that you are not up against too tight a deadline and can resolve the
problem in time!

Andrew
