Hi Miss Linda. Nice to hear your voice again,,, LOL. YES,,, of course. Using this method, there are 2 databases (or separate MDB's). The "back end" holds only the RAW DATA. Just "tables"... NOTHING ELSE. = No queries, no reports, no forms.... Nothing but tables and how they are = related is written into the back end. This "back end" MDB is just used = as a "container" or one you would fill up with just raw data. The "front end" holds all the "GO STUFF", where all the manipulating and = viewing is handled. Forms, queries, reports, macros etc. Instead of the tables being inside the same MDB as the "go stuff", the = tables are simply "linked" to the back end MDB. You can begin your database as one MDB, then split it later on if you = feel the need. They even have a "database splitter" wizard you could = use, and that does all the work for you. POOF! James is right though... even though it's easy to split any time you = want to, it's better to plan things out and use a "fe-be" system to = begin with if you need it. Most smaller applications where you don't = have multiple users on a network updating the tables, don't need to be = split. Get the picture? Peter C. Stuart, Florida ? I, for one, would love to understand this better. Thanks. The first thing I would suggest is that you separate your database into a front-end with all of your queries, forms, reports and code and a back-end that holds just the data. ************************************************************* You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx = or MicrosoftOffice@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To send mail to the group, simply address it to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To Unsubscribe from this group, send an email to mso-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?Subject=3Dunsubscribe Or, visit the group's homepage and use the dropdown menu.
