Thanks James...makes sense to me now! However, since my business is
just me, I would assume I wouldn't need to do this cuz I'm the only one
using the database and how big will it really ever get, eh?

Linda (and everyone one else interested),

A front-end/back-end set up is pretty much what it sounds like. You
have
all of your tables containing all of your data in one database that is
stored somewhere accessible by everyone. This is your "back-end"
database.
It is simply a repository for all of your data. The "front-end" is a
separate database that contains all of the forms, queries, reports and
code
to run the database. It is linked to the back-end tables. This
"front-end"
is then copied to any workstation that will use it. This set up allows
multiple users to have access to the same data, without having to have
them
share the same database. It reduces corruption (oops, the file won't
open
any more!) and contention (Hey, I can't open this, it says Joe has
exclusive
control!) in the database.
