Ha - my wife takes the opposite approach - she is grateful it takes at
least 3 months for them to complete my orders sometimes, otherwise I
would order more stuff in a year; and then I would struggle to stay
financially afloat.

Seriously though - I find it a holdup. I could build loco's faster if
everytime I realised I'd forgotten something, and have to order it, it
came in 48 hours.

That is how serious engineering companies work when it comes to off the
shelf parts.
