Jeff,
      It is indeed, red brass or not.  The model was built by John McDivitt
of Sarver, Pennsylvania and I took the photo at NAMES (North American Model
Engineering Show) a few years ago.  It was on display along with a Stuart
Major beam engine and a "Fleet" Corliss (the same as the Peter Southworth
Corliss) both of which were built by John and were equal or better in
workmanship.  He really did very fine work and in particular had a very
good eye for achieving a convincing balance between painted and bright
surfaces.
