Jem,
Yes, and I tried for some time to get a set castings from Terry, but
this was after he stopped offering them through ME and he wouldn't be
bothered. Peter Southworth (Southworth Engines) built one of the Terry's
engines and won a dish at the MEX. Peter then decided to do up a set of
patterns to add to his own line and now sells what is essentially an
identical engine (in cast iron and GM . . . uh-oh here we go again.) Can
you tell I also like large, complicated, model mill engines?
The Southworth castings are some of the best available but the
Corliss set weighs in at between 26-30kilos, depending upon the version
(single, twin, twin cross-compund, single or twin tandem compound) and
carriage to the US approaches the cost of the castings. Carriage is so
expensive that for very few more $$ I could fly myself over there and
collect them myself.
