Al, You gonna have fun trying to hydro that boiler with the safety valve in it!!!! LOL Well, you could do like the fireman on the "Best Friend Of Charleston" and just tie the valve down so it can't blow, but then you might wind up like said luckless fireman and be blown into the next county. If the ball looks OK and so is the spring, there is no need to replace it, just clean it and put it back together. You can leave the spring a bit loose and tighten it down until it pops at the proper pressure. Don't set it tight and plan on loosening it to set it or you may again wind up like the "BFOC" fireman.
