That’s what I thought too, but working in a mailbox that has a lot fewer
messages, 139 instead of 10,000 plus the problem isn’t there. They are both
gmail accounts, and I just switched mailboxes, didn’t disable the big one or
anything. I’m thinking it’s possible some setting for synchronizing or
updating the view is either new or activated with the upgrade. I guess it’s
time to stop using my in box as a filing system. It’s pretty handy, I’ll miss
it.

If it helps with the pondering, I’m using Mail with a Gmail account, and I
do have over 10,000 messages in my in box. I’ll try disableing my main
accountto see if I have the same problem with a less substantial message
list.
