[mac4theblind] How do I make it to where when I play a song, it doesn't automatically go to Itunes

I play things from my religious website that are audio books and things of that 
nature.  

I don't want to have to go and delete them from I tunes every time I play them.

There's gotta be a way to make it to where everything you play doesn't end up 
there.

Also, there are check marks beside things that are on my playlist that I want 
there.  What do they mean.  What does it mean if I uncheck them?
