in this evening's colorful sky there was joy and hope
i like such skies for the lift they can give and the implication of freedom but redness associates with death which may come while a man's cleaning his teeth or rolling out the garbage cart or writing a novel called
more pigs than tits
a line from lincoln about the position an incoming president encounters
with more job seekers than the gravy train has seats
he walks confidently not swaggering but acting truly looking as if he belongs
in this long white corridor of doors
having the contents of his pockets and character
by heart but nonetheless still fumbling
patting from time to time the outside of his jacket coat
turning new or old facts over within his mind
reassuring himself he does indeed have a clue where and when and how
in four short years we can all come
to be paid back in kind
