on a fine day at greenwich
lightly it came to me
as african children cavorted
how handicapped will a writer soon be
whose only claim is woe
being bi or fe
irish or jewish
white or brown
for we
who were supported by parents who failed to let us down
and paid out every penny for polish
praying a son will shine like the car on saturday
will shortly be joined by the next generation of fools on this hill
brand new members of the clerisy
who may also point out the camera obscura
to their kids
so that they may show in their turn
no interest at all
in the meridian
