The most shocking answers were concerning the General's lack of
knowledge about the Iranian leadership's spiritual beliefs and in
militant Islam:
<<<<<<<<<<

not only the General's, I suggest. But knowing about Qutb may be
less
relevant (as a guide to policy) than knowing that Ahmadinejad is
almost certainly not a fundamentalist (rather, he's an
opportunist).
It's also good to know a bit about the current political climate
in
Iran, e.g. that Ahmadinejad's in trouble (with/in the media
there, and with the people -- with conservatives and reformers
alike) because he's neglected the economy. But (Iranians who've
talked to the UK media say) if the US attacks Iran, ranks will
close, Ahmadinejad will be saved, and fundamentalism will
be strengthened.

>HH: It doesn’t matter if they’re Millennialists

like the US Rapture people?
