Eric: Nobody forgot how to build Roman siege machines in the Dark Ages.
Actually, they did. Or at least that's what the flimsy evidence suggests.
When the Anglo Saxons assumed control in Eastern Britain during the fifth
century, their siege weapons were tree trunks and little more came back at
them than stones and darts.
And on an earlier point...
Eric: ...if Iran won't stop making nukes, take out their facilities.
How many nukes have they made? Assuming they are actually researching
weapons, my impression is that they are perhaps ten years away from
attaining the technology. Conversely, they may be much closer to providing
nuclear energy to their population. Disregarding the dangers of nuclear
power plants for a moment, is that so wrong?
Do you really believe Bush and Condi have the hots for Iran because of the
nuclear threat? It's like saying Iraq was invaded because of the strength of
the evidence for mobile chemical weapons systems.
Pedantically,
Simon Ward
