It may be "ain't so bad after all"
if you're bicycling into somebody else's office
and working on their machines.

Reality check on expenses:
1) keeping hardware and software current
2) working space rent
3) un-billable time to manage business (invoice, statements, collections, sales)
4) paper, supplies, filing, utilities, ad nauseam

after all is said and done
you'll be lucky to end up with $2 or $3 an hour to buy coffee, rice and beans.

Reality check II:
in order to earn $10 per hour as a self employed individual
you best be billing at least $40 per hour
(assuming you already have the basic tools of what ever the trade)
