Btw I'm using outlook, not OE. Let me explain this: when you are in the list of messages in outlook and you press insert+up arrow jaws reads the sender as well as the subject of the message. You open a message by pressing enter, all right? So if you want to close a message, you just hit escape. The moment you hit escape jaws reads the subject and sender automatically. But when your delay is set to 1000, jaws doesn't read it automatically. So then you have to press insert+up arrow again to read the sender's name and subject. I prefer it to hear the sender's name and subject automatically when I hit escape so that I know I delete the right message. I'm using outlook, I have used outlook express. According to my experience outlook express is a watered down version of outlook. To give you one good example: the view by conversation feature works much better in outlook than in OE. I will elaborate on this in a separate post if members wish, but here I shall say that I recommend everyone to use outlook rather than OE.If it doesn't bother you to hear the name of the sender as well as the subject automatically when you close a message with escape, then the delay suggestion from tracy will work in outlook. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Gomes" <finnygomes@xxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2007 11:12 AM Subject: reply from tracy jackson regarding outlook express Well here is what Tracy told me to do about outlook wxpress.
